PHILIPSBURG - Mrs. Bertha F. Walton, 70, of 221 Spruce St., Philipsburg, died today, Nov. 9, at 2:15 a.m. in Mountain View Unit of Centre Community Hospital at State College.
She was born in Philipsburg on Oct. 1, 1906, a daughter of Frank C. and Mary E. (Pilkington) Croyle.
Mrs. Walton was a retired school teacher and a graduate of Philipsburg High School and Susquehanna University. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and its Altar Guild, the Order of Eastern Star and the Twentieth Century Club.
She is survived by a son, John A. Williams of Lima, Ohio; a granddaughter; a brother John C. of State College; two stepchildren, Mrs. Edward (Marjorie)Grundy of Glass City, Philipsburg, and Mrs. Andrew (Lois) Dugs of Clearfield; a niece and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Walton. The Rev. Harvey P. Knudsen will officiate at the funeral Friday at 11 a.m. in the Beezer Funeral Home in Philipsburg. Interment will follow in Allport Cemetery.
Friends will be received in the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
