Thomas was born in Washington Co., IA, to John the immigrant, from Ireland. His Grandfather was likewise, the same. His Mother was Margaret M Holmes.

Thomas was the oldest of 11.

Thomas married Anna Mariah Gormly on Sept. 12, 1876 in Washington Co., Iowa. They had 8 children of their own.

In 1901 Thomas & Anna moved their family to Madison Co., IA.

THOMAS MCKEE OF WINTERSET PASSES

Funeral Services to Be Held at United Presbyterian Church Saturday

Thomas McKee, elderly farmer of near Winteset and a long-time resident of this community, died at the Winterset hospital early Thursday morning. He was 86 years old and had been ill for several weeks.

Mr. McKee was a native of Crawfordsville, Ia., and came to this community as a young married man. In recent years he had lived with his son, John McKee on the old home farm about two miles west of Winterset. Among his immediate survivors are his five sons, J. W., John and Frank McKee of Winterset, D. W. McKee of Shenandoah and Harry McKee of Grand Island, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the United Presbyterian church here. Burial will be made at Crawfordsville.

LAST RITES HELD FOR THOMAS MCKEE

Services Were Saturday in the Presbyterian Church Winterset

Funeral services for Thomas McKee, well-known Madison county farmer, were held at the United Presbyterian church, Saturday morning, July 31st at 9:30 o'clock. The members of the family and a few intimate friends accompanied the body to Crawfordsville, where the Rev. W. G. Robertson of Winterset conducted services at the United Presbyterian church there at three o'clock. Burial was made in the Crawfordsville cemetery.

Mr. McKee was a son of John and Margaret Holmes McKee. He was born August 2, 1851 and died July 29th 1937 at the Winterset hospital. He was the eldest child of a family of eight. He was married to Anna McGormely on September 12, 1876 and they made their home in Crawfordsville, until they moved to this county in 1901. They located on what is known as the Tusha farm south of Winterset and later lived on the Murphy and Boyle farms. In 1908 they moved to the Leonard farm, where they resided until Mr. McKee was no longer able to engage in farming. Mr. and Mrs. McKee observed their golden wedding anniversary September 12, 1926. Mrs. McKee died May 17, 1933.

Mr. McKee is survived by five sons, Frank R. of Earlham, Harry T. of Grand Island, Nebraska, James W. and John L. of Winterset and W. Dean of Shenandoah. He also leaves ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. McKee and three children, Minnie, Helen and Thomas have preceded him in death. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Henry Hagie of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Arthur Griffith of Washington and Mrs. Rebecca Chrissinger of California.

Mr. McKee was active in the work of the United Presbyterian church and served as an elder for a number of years.

McKee, Mr. and Mrs. John McKee and sons, Gail and Melvin, Mr. and Mrs. John Spence, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Comp and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tyer of Winterset, Mr. and Mrs. Harry T. McKee of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. W. Dean McKee and son Dean Jr., of Shenandoah and Mr. and Mrs. Frank McKee and son Harry of Earlham
