MRS. COOK'S FUNERAL.
Conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. A Biographical Sketch.
The funeral of Mrs. John L. Cook was conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The services were held at the Maple Avenue Methodist church of which she was a member and the pastor, the Rev. F. M. Burton, had charge; burial at the Independence cemetery. The following brief biographical sketch has been sent in by a friend.
"Born Nov. 26, 1883, lived 4-1/2 miles southeast of Independence, until married to John L. Cook, March 7, 1907. Since that time she has lived in Independence at her home, 633 South Liberty. She has been in poor health for several years and had planned to spend next summer in California. She was taken sick Dec. 12, 1909, died, Jan. 31, 1910.
From the very first she was dangerously sick; often times she was hopeful of recovery as well as the family. She was a patient sufferer and had strong will power and fought bravely to get well. Was unconscious only about three hours before she died.
Mrs. Cook united with the Fairmount Methodist church on Thanksgiving evening, 1895. After she was a married moved her membership to Independence of which church she was a member when she died. She leaves a husband, John L. Cook, one sister, Miss J. L. George, one half sister, Miss Anna Allen, three half brothers, Joel James, John Allen, her father, James L. Allen. The funeral will be held from the South Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon, 2:30 p.m. Rev. Burton will conduct the services, the burial will be in the Independence cemetery.
