Elsie SKAGGS, 87, of Follett, died April 3, 2002 at Twin Oaks Manor in Booker.

Funeral services were held April 5 at the United Methodist Church in Follett with Rev. Clay Wells and Rev. Chris Ford officiating. Burial was in Fairmont Cemetery, under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service in Booker.

She was born April 23, 1914 near Shattuck, Oklahoma to Dave and Anna Elizabeth (Herbel) SCHIBBELHUTE. She attended the Highland Country School and continued helping on the family farm. The family moved to Dalhart in 1930, where they lived until 1933 when they returned to Oklahoma.

She married John KAMMERER at Clayton, New Mexico on Sept. 17, 1951, and they made their home at Follett. He died in 1960.

On June 19, 1964, she married Leonard "Shorty" SKAGGS at Lipscomb. They stayed in Follett, where they owned and operated the Follett Times. In 1977 they sold the newspaper business and retired. He died in 1998. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Follett.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands, by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Louis KAHOE of Follett, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to Twin Oaks Manor, P.O. Box 369, Booker, TX 79005.
