"Newlen, Andle G. – male, white, age 6 yrs, b. Ca. d. 15 Aug 1891 of diphtheria." Source: Earliest Death and Burial Records, in the Butte County Courthouse, published serially in the Paradise Genealogical Society's publication, The Goldmine, 1990-1992, pg 110.

[no age provided], just the word "child" - listed as Audie Grant Newlen - was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on August 16, 1891 (basis of birth date comes from the ED&B Rec, above).
----------------
I was told by someone that the above information was taken from real old hand written records that were hard to read and it has been ascertained that the above spellings of this child's name may not be right.
In the Pre-1905 Butte County, CA. death records it lists this child as Angello G. Newlen. It appears that the name in the above Genealogical Society publication should be Angie and not Andle or Audie since Angie would be a more probable nickname for the name Angello. The above spellings were used as a "best that we could tell" what the name was from the record they had to look at.

It has not been proven beyond doubt that this child was the son of John and Matilda Newlen but he fits the family like a glove since he is of an age to fit this family and is buried by Ida Newlen who was the daughter of this family. If anyone knows anything different about this child please let me know. Also they both died of the same disease within a few weeks of each other.
