Information on his family, ancestors and descendants, is to be found in Linenthal, Arthur J. , "Two Academic Lives, George Herbert Palmer and Alice Freeman Palmer", 1995, Boston, privately printed. George Herbert was a son of Julius Aboyneau. According to this account, pp. 6 , 31, 43, Julius Aboyneau Palmer was a poor boy come from the country, went to Boston in 1819 , became the senior member of the firm of Palmer and Batchelder & Co.(Jewelers), was several times the Temperance candidate for mayor of Boston, was the representative from Boston to the state legislature in 1843 and 1851. He retired to Boxford in 1865 and was elected to the Senate from Essex County in 1869, but died in Boston, at 57 Chestnut St., p. 41. Ibid., pp. 24, 26, states that the firm of Davis Palmer and Co. was formed in 1836, Palmer and Batchelders was formed in 1845, and it succeeded Davis Palmer and Co. in 1846.
