BOUNTIFUL, UT – Robert Rowland ("Rowdy", "Bob") Barrus, 84, died, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at home, due to pancreatic cancer.

He was born December 25, 1926, in Grantsville, Utah to Arthur Leland and Lillian Huntington Judd Barrus. He was sealed to Edith Joy Clark on February 25, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple, and together they raised nine children. Edith Joy passed away April 16, 1981, in Salt Lake City. On November 23, 1982, Robert was sealed to Flora Vail Park in the Jordan River Temple.

Throughout his life Robert had the privilege of serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many capacities and locations including Grantsville, Tooele, Salt Lake City and Bountiful, Utah; Bloomington, Indiana; Dallas, Texas; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Short Hills, New Jersey. From 1947 to 1949 he served as a full-time missionary in the LDS Northern California Mission.

Following retirement, Robert and Flora served LDS Church missions in Houston, Texas; Bristol, England; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Perth, Australia.

Robert served in the U.S. Army in Naples, Italy in 1945-46, and had a professional accounting career at the JC Penney Company from 1953 until he retired in 1987.

He is survived by his wife, Flora; his nine children, and Flora's four children: Ann Burt, Kennewick, WA, Carolyn (John) Olson, Heber City, UT, Jean (Bruce) Bingham, Bountiful, UT, Ruth (Robert) Gardner, Ellington, CT, Julie (Boyd) Davis, Joseph City, AZ, Christine (Scott) Felsted, Fayetteville, GA, Susan (Curt) Curtis, Syracuse, UT, Robert C. (Angeleen) Barrus, East Hartford, CT, David L. (Megumi) Barrus, Heber City, UT, Patti Ferrin, Bountiful, UT, Cheryl Park, Woods Cross, UT, David (Angela) Park, Pleasant View, UT, and Eugene (Tanya) Park, North Salt Lake, UT; 50 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; his brother, E. Sherman Barrus, Salt Lake City, and his sister, Margaret (Dan) Tatomer, also of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18 at 11:00am at the Bountiful Hills Ward, 1190 East Bountiful Hills Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Thursday, March 17 from 6 to 8pm at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, and Friday morning from 9:30 –10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Bountiful Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund
