Henry H. Leeser was born in Reading, Pa. June 30, 1852, and came to Carroll Aug. 3, 1880. He was married to Miss Ella Schaffer at the farm of Sam B. Alspach near Halbur, Oct. 31, 1880. They remained on the farm until the
following summer (1881) when they came to Carroll.
To this union one daughter was born, Bessie, who has been an invalid all her life. She, with the widow, survives. Mr. Leeser was a carpenter by trade and followed that occupation until he became a victim of paralysis. He was a resident of Carroll for almost 50 years. During his affliction he was most patient, and contented himself
reading and singing hymns. He was one of the most cheerful patients in the hospital in spite of his suffering.
Last October to celebrate, the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Leeser, the Nuns of St. Anthony hospital decorated his room and served a nice lunch and friends gave them a shower of postal cards. The afflicted family has always held a warm spot in the hearts of the people of Carroll, who extend their sympathy at this time.
