Jess Acker, 74, of Lodi, died Friday at a local convalescent home after an extended illness.
Mr. Acker was born in Appleton, Minnesota. He moved to Lodi in 1936. He was employed by Emery & Brown Electric and later by Custom Electric prior to retiring in 1976. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Lodi Masonic Lodge #256, F. & A. M. and American Legion Post #22 of Lodi. He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Acker of Lodi; one daughter, Donna Wiebe of Lodi; one son, Noel Acker of Pleasanton; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Gierhart & Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Bowman of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Private inurnment will be in Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of the Valley Lode Counties ... or to the charity of the donor's choice.
