In the early 1900's the family moved to Florida so that their youngest son could take advantage of the mineral springs to treat what was thought to be an injured hip, but later was discovered to be a displaced hip.
They returned to Standing Rock until Bob's wife, Minnie died in 1925. Shortly after her death, Bob and his twelve year old son Robert moved to Carrollton, GA where they lived until their deaths.
