Chico Daily Record, Monday, April 1, 1901, pg 1 col 4: Mrs. S. Moses An Old Resident Joins the Majority. Mrs. Sophia Moses, an old resident of Chico, died at the family residence early Saturday morning. Deceased was a native of Ohio, aged 62 years and 6 months. She left her native State in 1864 and came across the plains to Oregon, where she lived until 1885, when she removed to Modoc county. From there she came to Chico in 1888, where she has since lived. Mrs. Moses has been in ill health for some years, but it was only during the past few weeks that her malady assumed a serious phase.

Mrs. Moses was a member of the Christian Church and a devout Christian woman. She left surviving four children: Mrs. Kate Thurston of Lakeview, Ore., Frank Cooper of Walla Walla, Wash., Chas. Moses and Mrs. Jane Myrtle of Chico.

The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon from the Christian church, Rev. F.B. Sapp officiating. The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: F.W. Miller, W.M. Copple, E.C. Eberts, Jos Waterman, R.J. Hampton and J.H. Behme.
