Lloyd Wayne Bailey, 80, a 23 year Wenatchee area resident, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Central Washington Hospital. He was born on August 8, 1929, in New Mexico, the son of the late John and Minnie Pearl (Kachel) Bailey. He was raised in Colorado and the Bay Area of California. He graduated from High School at Hayward, CA in 1947. He continued his education at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL. He was married to Marveline Iris Holsteen at Yarmouth, IA on August 10, 1950. Together they moved to Wheaton, IL, where he attended Wheaton College and received his Teaching Certificate. They moved to Castro Valley, CA, where he began his teaching career and, after some time, he entered into Christian School Administration. As an Administrator, he was involved with numerous new Christian School start ups. In 1971, he accepted a position in the Education Department at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA. It was during this time, that he earned both his Master's and PhD degrees in Education. In 1982, they moved to Washington and settled in the Port Angeles area. Lloyd served as Principal at a number of Private Christian Schools. They moved to the Wenatchee area in 1987, where he enjoyed his retirement years as a Substitute Teacher in all of the Wenatchee Valley School Districts. Lloyd was a member of the Wenatchee First Baptist Church. He had a passionate commitment to his walk with God. He was active in Church work all of his life. He had served as Superintendant of Sunday School Departments, as well as Deacon and Elder in the various churches where they had resided. He was known for his sense of humor, for his love of reading and teaching. He enjoyed bowling, tennis, basketball and playing football in high school.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marveline Bailey of Wenatchee; one daughter, Lynette Welch of Everett, WA; two sons, Pastor Delaine (Emily) Bailey of Lynden, WA and Brent Bailey of Sacramento, CA; two sisters, Kady Hayes of Saratoga Springs, NY and Joanne Parker of Bend, OR; one brother, Robert "Bob" Bailey of Nampa, ID; 8 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 12 brothers and sisters.
A Commemoration Service will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at 3:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Wenatchee, 1301 Maple Street, Wenatchee, with Pastor Wes Hunter officiating.
