- CLINTON - Thomas H. Wiggs, 79, of 1189 Sunset Blvd., died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, S.C.
- He was born in New Bern, N.C., and was a son of the late Rev. N.D. and Mamie Davenport Wiggs.
- Mr. Wiggs was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton and a member of the Signet Sunday School Class. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Campbell Masonic Lodge No. 44, as well as a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
- Mr. Wiggs spent 48 years in the retail business: 30 years with S. H. Kress, managing stores in Kan., N.J., N.Y. City, N.C., and S.C., and 10 years with T.G.& Y. as manager in Clinton, S.C. Before retiring, he worked eight years with Wal-Mart, Laurens store, as an assistant manager.
- Surviving are his wife, Genevieve "Jenny" Wiggs of the home; two sons, Thomas H. Wiggs II and wife, Donna, of Spartanburg, S.C., and John T. Wiggs of Wilmington, N.C.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Wiggs Nevis; a great-granddaughter, Lauren; and a great-grandson, Luke, all of York, S.C.
- He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul R. Wiggs and N.D. Wiggs II.
- Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at the First Baptist Church, with burial with Masonic Rites at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
- The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
