WWII Veteran:
Robert M. Bauman, 87, of Van Buren, died at 8:40 a.m., Sunday, March 13, 2011, at his residence from a massive heart attack. As their 10th child, he was born on January 31, 1924, in Defiance, OH to the late John Wesley Bauman and Della (Dickman) Bauman . He married Ada V. Nungester on July 7, 1947, and she preceded him in death on May 22, 2008. He is survived by daughters: Della (Robert) Hopkins of North Baltimore, Sharon (Dave) Harmon of North Baltimore, Pam (Calvin) Vance of Bairdstown, Sherry Huff of Van Buren and Peg Bauman of North Baltimore; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Robert is also survived by a sister-in-law, Bertha Brooks of Fostoria and lifetime friend, Julian "Casey" Davis of Findlay. He was preceded in death by sons: Melvin Bauman and Ronald Bauman, all of his siblings:

Betty (Bauman) Merrick 8/8/1926 - 9/26/1981, and 3 grandchildren: Cevin, Christopher and Christina. Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran having proudly served our country in World War II. He worked 22 years at Garwood Industries and retired in 1982, after working 10 years at Werk Brau, both in Findlay. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1148 in Bowling Green. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2011, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Reverend Lowell Reeder officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veteran's Memorial Squad. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.
