Miss Katherine "Katy" M. Johnson, Galesburg Chapel 95, of Galesburg, died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the home of her nephew.
She was born March 19, 1915 in Galesburg, the daughter of Clarence E. and Esther Larson Johnson.
She is survived by two nephews, Kenneth (Phyllis) and Charles (Priscilla) Hawkinson, both of Galesburg; four great-nieces and seven great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janet Hawkinson.
Katy was the bookkeeper at the former Howe-Anderson Bakery for 22 years and worked in the Knox County Clerk's Office for 20 years. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1932 and graduated Brown's Business College. She was an active member of the Covenant Church, where she belonged to the Covenant Women, was a Sunday school teacher and secretary, a deaconess, and sang in the choir.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Covenant Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
