CARTHAGE, Mo. — Oneta Elliott Crawford, 82, Carthage, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011, in St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin.

Oneta Mae Devereaux was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Carthage, the daughter of Arthur Devereaux and Lulu (Sharp) Devereaux.

She attended Carthage public schools and was a graduate of Carthage High School, Class of 1947.

She married Dee Elliott on May 5, 1950, in Carthage. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1966.

She married Hugh Don Crawford on June 11, 1976, in Joplin. He preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1995.

Oneta worked for J.C. Penney Co., Carthage, in the catalog department from 1968–1975. She then worked for the Carthage Water & Electric Plant from 1975–1995, when she retired.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carthage.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie (Larry) Willis, Aurora, Mo.; two sons, Reggie (Lynda) Elliott, Joplin, Mo., and Tim (Donna) Elliott, Webb City, Mo.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, eight stepchildren, Dawn Murrell, Amber Kirkland, Hugh Crawford, Stuart Crawford, Greg Crawford, John Crawford, Jeff Crawford and Mary Holman; 13 step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; a surviving sister-in-law, Lynn Devereaux, New Glarus, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dee Elliott and Don Crawford, one brother, A.E. Devereaux and three sisters, Thelma Wallace, Lorraine Donovan and Chris Murphy.

The family will receive friends from 2–3 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2011, at Park Cemetery, Carthage.

Rev. Ron Franklin will officiate.
