Wooten Gaddis finished high school in Jackson, Miss, then entered Gulfcoast Military Academy. In 1917 he enlisted in the Army and was assigned to the Motor Supply Train 409 in Camp Custer, Michigan. He was in the 376th Motor Truck Co. of the 409th Motor Supply Train which went overseas on the U.S. Transport America (formerly the German line Americka) without incident. The ship arrived at France. In Bordeaux , France the 376th Truck Co. played a prominent part in the assembling of motor vehicles and convoying them to the front in France, Wyatt Wooten Gaddis was stationed in France until the end of the War, then returned to Morton where he joined his father in the Mercantile Business. He was a Shriner, a member of the Eastern Star, Morton Chamber of Commerce , the American Legions and the Morton Methodist Church
