Born in log cabin about 5 mile northeast of Bloomington, Indiana. Her ancestors, families of Cox, Griffith, and Wampler, were pioneer settlers of Monroe County, Indiana. She emigrated in covered wagon to Douglas County, Illinois near Kemp in 1876. Attended Arcola High School, was a teacher, member American Legion Auxiliary, Tuscola Women's Club and Kemp Church of Christ.
