Funeral Victim of Quarrel Held
--Simple Services for J. Kelly Lilly Near Dickerson.

Attended by more than one hundred persons, the funeral of J. Kelly Lilly, shot and killed by Walter Nelson at the latter's home near Dickerson last Saturday evening, was held Tuesday afternoon.

The simple funeral service was conducted at the late home of the deceased, which is also near Dickerson, and the interment was made in the cemetery at Beallsville, Montgomery county. Claggett Hilton was the funeral director.

Lilly, survived by his wife and eleven children, five of whom are married, met his death Saturday evening about 9 o'clock following an argument with Nelson in the latter's home.

Nelson declared that he returned to his home Saturday afternoon about 4 o'clock and found his wife in company with Lilly. An argument ensued but amicable relations were resumed in a very short time and Lilly remained at the home for some time. Later in the evening the quarrel was renewed, resulting in Nelson procuring a shotgun and shooting Lilly, killing him instantly.

Following notification of the authorities, an investigation was made and an autopsy performed, during which Nelson was required to remain in the same room and view the operation. Nelson, it is stated, declared the cause of the shooting was due to his wife and Lilly being in each other's company.

Nelson's wife, however, emphatically denied that Lilly was attentive to her, authorities said. Intimations are to the effect that the fatal shooting ensued from a quarrel over liquor.

Nelson is now in the local jail where he has been since the investigation and autopsy Saturday night.
