He was born at Limestone the son of the late Dr. William R. and Lonna Blackwood. He graduated from Deer High School and served three years in the U.S. Navy. He earned his bachelor of arts degree at Arkansas Tech University and went on to receive his master of education administration degree from the University of Arkansas. He worked 45 years in public schools at Valley springs, Western Grove, both the junior and senior high schools in Harrison and North Arkansas Community College where he retired as registrar.
He was an active member of Kiwanis and the Harrison Chamber of Commerce, serving as president of both. He was a member of the Eagle Heights Baptist Church for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margarette Blackwood; a sister, Johnna Atkinson and a brother, Harold V. Blackwood.
Survivors include a son, and 2 grandchildren.
He was 77 when he died at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center Harrison, AR. I have a copy of his obit.
