Slimp Services Set for Friday
Services for Andrew Brownlow Slimp, 82, 103 Ridgemont Ave., prominent oilman and business leader, who died Thursday morning at a local hospital, will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at the Baptist Temple, of which he was an active member. Slimp was founder of the Pioneer Oil and Refining Co., and had retired from active business life as president of the company several years ago. He had made his home on his ranch near Bandera until returning to San Antonio last February. Coming to San Antonio 41 years ago from Johnson County, Tennessee, where he was born, Slimp had been a leader in the development of the oil business in this area. In 1911 he founded the Pioneer Co. here. Survivng are his widow, Mrs. Perl M. Slimp; three sons, Chester A., Horace B. and Fred A. Slimp, all of this city; three daughters, Mrs. A. H. Peterson of Alice; Mrs. Louise Hockaday of Dallas, and Mrs. Naomi Ellisor of Houston; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
