Ellsworth, May 19 - (Special) - This community was shocked and grieved by the sudden death at noon yesterday of Mrs. Gertrude Crouch, in her 80th year, widow of the late Hudson C. Crouch, at the home of her daughter Mrs. A. T. Harris. The attending physical pronounced the cause of death as a heart attack.
Mrs. Crouch, at noon luncheon, had been chatting happily as usual when suddenly she was observed to lean slowly to one side. Mrs. Harris and the others reached her side in time to lower her gently to a reclining position. In a few moments, and without regaining consciousness, she passed peacefully away. Mrs. Crouch had been in very good health and had not complained of any indisposition.
The deceased had been a life-long resident of Bentleyville, until of late years when she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Harris, at Ellsworth. She had been a member always of the Bentleyville Methodist Episcopal Church until a few years ago, when she united with the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Annie Crouch, and a brother, William Gibson, both of Bentleyville; one daughter, Mrs. A. T. Harris; and five grandchildren; Mrs. Virginia Harris Downs of Holly, N. Y., Miss Lillian Harris, Miss Betty Harris of Ellsworth, and Charles, Jr., and Richard Sharpnack of Pittsburgh.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. A. T. Harris Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment will be at Beallsville Cemetery.
