Rev. John Parker, a well-known Methodist Episcopal minister, died on a recent Sunday, in Rochester, aged 78 years. He had been a clergyman for 58 years. He was for three years presiding elder in Elmira, and was twice a delegate to the general conference. He had moved thirty-five times during his ministry. Among the places at which he was stationed were Asbury church, Rochester, the churches at Palmyra, Honeoye Falls, Geneseo, Lyons, Batavia, Perry, Lima, Mt. Morris, LeRoy, Canandaigua, Waterloo, Horseheads, Bloomfield, Charlotte. His wife survives him, and he leaves a brother, Rev. Samuel Parker, of Hopewell, Ontario county, and a sister, Mrs. Collier, who lives in Rochester.

Rev. Samuel Parker was the son of Rev. Nathaniel and Mary (Rhodes) Parker. Marlette (Fowler) was his 1st wife, they were married in 1829. She was the daughter of Charles and Catherine Fowler. Marlette died December 4, 1833. Lois (Winton) was his 2nd wife, they were married in 1836. Lois died January 7, 1887. Rev. Parker was a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
