David Lords Honored On Golden Anniversary
The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. David Lord provided the incentive for a family reunion at their home at 929 18th street on Saturday and a buffet followed by a surprise reception at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. T. Earl Kendrick, on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lord are Merced and Mariposa county pioneers. Before her marriage on November 30, 1891, Mrs. Lord was Miss Louise Castagnetto of the well known Mariposa county family.
Attending the reunion dinner party Saturday were the couple's children, Mrs. Edward (Hazel) Roduner, Mrs. T. Earl (Josephine) Kendrick, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Dalziel, Mrs. Ray (May) Middlevich and Lester Lord. Grandchildren present were Mrs. Arthur Fitchett, Geraldine and Gwendolyn Dalziel; Marilyn, Earleen and Maureen Kendrick and Betty Jo and Lenice Lord. Unable to be present was Lieutenant Delbert Westcott, a grandson, who is stationed at San Diego and was not able to get leave. Great grandchildren present were Delbert and Donald Fitchett.
Edward Roduner, T. Earl Kendrick, Robert Dalziel and Ray Middlevich, son-in-law, were included in the festivities as were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Castagnetto, Arthur Fitchett, Mrs. A Middlevich of San Francisco and Miss Marjorie Arbuckle.
Quartet Tables centered with white flowers had hand painted place cards with a golden ring which were autographed by the honored couple. White candles in silver candelabra flanked the three-tiered wedding cake, make by granddaughter Mrs. Fitchett, which centered the buffet dinner table. White and gold gladioli were arranged in the living rooms.
Gifts, messages and telegrams poured in to the Lords during the surprise reception following the dinner party. On Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Lord were complimented with the dedication of the song, "Believe Me If all Those Endearing Young Charms" played during a radio program.
