Essie Mae Baker Blue, 89, of Berlin died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at her daughter's residence. Born in Proctorville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Kale Stephens and Easter Graham. Her husband, Edward Blue, preceded her in death.
She leaves a legacy of love with: two daughters, Carolyn Duffy of Berlin and Bendetta (Greg) Blake of Salisbury; two sons, James F. (Mary) Baker of Fayetteville, NC and Zander Lee (Margaret) Baker of Berlin; two stepdaughters, Corine Blue of Whiteville, NC and Clara M. Blue of Chadbourn, NC; one stepson, Ivory Purnell of Raleigh, NC; one granddaughter whom she raised, Shinika (Joshua) Blue-Pitts; 30 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She has also been preceded in death by one son, Richard Lee Baker.
She will lie in repose on Friday, February 11, 2011, from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday, February 12, 2011, from 1 to 2 PM at St. Paul United Methodist Church on 405 Flower Street in Berlin, MD. The funeral service will begin at 2 PM. Rev. Barbara Harmon will be the Officiating Pastor. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
