Sarah is shown in the 1850 and 1860 Census as born about 1844 and living with her parents in Middle Township. The 1880 Census shows her as also born about 1844 and living in Pittsboro with husband James and sons William and Charles. James' obituary indicates she predeceased his June 1918 death by less than a year. She was a younger sister of James Thompson and Daniel Harrison Thompson.
