Graveside funeral services for former Seminole resident Alpha Houck-Douglas were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary of Oklahoma City. Rev. M. Russell Herndon, pastor of Bethany First Assembly of God, will officiate.
Houck-Douglas died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001 at the age of 99. She was born Aug. 25, 1902 near Mountain Grove, Mo.
She moved to Stratford in 1907 and then to Seminole in
1918. Houck-Douglas married Jasper Clyde Houck, Sr. in Seminole in 1923. She lived in Maud from 1926
until 1932 when she moved back to Seminole. She moved to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1942 where she worked for Consolidated Valtee Aircraft Corporation.
Houck-Douglas returned to Seminole after World War II and
lived here until her husband's death in 1957.
She then moved to Midwest City and later to Maysville, Ark. after she married Bryce Douglas.She returned to Midwest City after Douglas' death.
Houck-Douglas was preceded in death by her husbands and one granddaughter, Bernice ReNee Houck.
She is survived by one sister, Odessa Rozell, of Pauls Valley; one son, Jasper Clyde Houck, Jr.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
