William C. "Bill" "W.C." Fields, 87, of Ashland, died Monday, March 7, 2011, in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born May 22, 1923, in Newtown, Texas, a son of the late William E. Fields and Dora Elizabeth Barbee Fields.
He was a retired truck driver with Arizona Trucking Co. and a member of Little Jewel Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Osborn Steel Fields, a son and daughter-in-law, William Frank and Sue Fields of Pittsburgh, PA., a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Jean and Rick Payne of Salem, OH., a step-son and his wife, Paul and Patricia Steel of Ashland, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a brother, Roy Everett Fields of Phoenix, Ariz., and a sister, Laverne Pipin of Luna, NM.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at Little Jewel Old Regular Baptist Church, by Elders Terry Bryant and Junior Ruggles. Burial will be in Winslow Cemetery. A military service by Ceredo-Kenova American Legion Post 93 will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the cemetery.
