Lloyd Emerald Hauger was born on May 14, 1918 to Nikolai and Beatta Hauger in Plaza, North Dakota. He had 4 biological sisters and 2 biological brothers. All except one sister, Mrs. Olive Yankee, preceded him in death.

At the age of three, Lloyd's mother died during child birth. The family was split up and Lloyd was fortunate enough to go and live with Gust and Lena Hauger, his biological aunt and uncle. Lloyd always talked highly of his adoptive parents and always called them mom and dad.

Lloyd graduated from McIntosh High School in 1936. On Nov. 7, 1941 he married Camilla Burkee. They have 3 sons and one daughter; Carlton "Skip", Curtis, David, and Cheryl.

Lloyd farmed in Badger for most of his life. He and Camilla lived on the Burkee farm until 1966 when he went to work at Polaris Industries. At that time they turned the farm over to their son Curtis, but Lloyd continued to help on the farm when needed. Lloyd worked at Polaris for over twenty years.

Lloyd was very active in the community. He served as clerk of the Badger School district, President of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church, was President of the Lutheran Brotherhood, a board member of the Roseau County Farm Bureau, the clerk of Skagen Township for over 20 years, and director of Tri County Ambulance service. He enjoyed reading, visiting with family and friends, and his retirement.

Lloyd Hauger passed away on Wednesday, October 15 at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau. He was 90 years old. Helgeson Funeral Chapel of Roseau is handling the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife Camilla, children: Carlton "Skip" Hauger (Louise) of Ames, Iowa, Curtis Hauger (Diann) of Badger, Minnesota, David Hauger (Kim) of Zimmerman, Minnesota, and Cheryl Reaves (Dave) of Austin, Minnesota; sister, Olive Yankee of Lebanon, Oregon; eleven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, his parents, granddaughter Carie Hauger, his adoptive brother, Grant Hauger, and his adoptive sister Mrs. Norval (Gladys) Folland.
