THE CHICO ENTERPRISE, Friday Evening, January 8, 1915: "Mrs. Caroline Worth Will Be Buried Tomorrow. The funeral of Mrs. Caroline Worth, who died yesterday afternoon at her home in Nelson, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family home in Nelson. H. S. Brink of Nelson will officiate. Chico Lodge, Degree of Honor, A.O.U.W. will have charge of the services. Interment will be in the Nelson cemetery.
"Mrs. Caroline Worth was a native of St. Louis, Mo., and was 68 years old. She came to this state in 1849 with her parents and lived in Marysville for a number of years before coming to Butte county. She had been a resident of Nelson for forty years.
"Her husband, George Worth, died a year ago last October. Surviving her are six daughters --- Mrs. R. W. Strong of Biggs, Mrs. F. J. Smith of Sacramento, Mrs. Dan Bayles of Biggs, Mrs. A. M. Killingsworth of Nelson, Miss Belle Worth of Nelson and Miss Hester Worth of Nelson."
Chico Record, Sunday Morning, January 10, 1915: "Mrs. Caroline Worth Is Buried At Nelson. Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Caroline Worth, the prominent Nelson woman who died last week, were held yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Worth home in Nelson. Interment was made in Nelson cemetery. Rev. McWilliams of Biggs officiated. The pall bearers were: George Jones, Calvin Washburn, Ed White, Joe Nelson, Clarence Garner and Chester Van Syckle. Those who attended from Chico were: Mrs. J.J. O'Neil, Mrs. Louis Krueger, Miss Alice Pearl, all of the Degree of Honor, of which Mrs. Worth was an esteemed member; Mrs. J.Q. Colm and Mrs. Fred H. Stansell. Many friends and relatives of the deceased from Nelson and Biggs also were in attendance. Mrs. Worth is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. R.W. Strong of Biggs, Mrs. F.J. Smith of Sacramento, Mrs. Dan Bayles of Biggs, Mrs. A.M. Killingsworth of Nelson, Miss Belle Worth of Nelson and Miss Hester Worth of Nelson."
The Worth family plot, is surrounded by three large oleander bushes, enclosed in 4' high no-climb wire supported by 2" galvanized posts. A gate entry is located at the southeast corner, impassable due to growth of rose bushes. The Worth family plot has one large obelisk and rounded spire inscribed as noted. Facing south is a rounded disk with the initial "W". Caroline's name and dates are Facing east: w/clasped hands; shares marker w/George Worth. A separate marker inscribed "Mother" is to the north of the family obelisk.
