Garfield man fatally hurt in road wreck
---
Garfield, Ga. - Joseph Johnson Kimball of Garfield, died in the Emanuel County Hospital at Swainsboro Friday of injuries sustained in a truck accident Thursday about 1 p.m.
Two other men were injured in the accident which occurred when the pick-up truck they occupied jumped out of the ruts on a frozen dirt road near Blundale, Ga., and turned over. The other injured were Mr. Kimball's brother, Robert Miley Kimball, and a first cousin, James Richard Farthing. Both were taken to the hospital where they were admitted for treatment. Their condition was described as "good" Friday.
Funeral services for Mr. Kimball will be held Saturday at 3 p.m., at the Garfield Methodist Church. The Rev. Frank Terry will officiate and interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bernie Brown, Harold Hall, Esso Ellison, Cecil Rainey, Walter Cowart and O. A. Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be W. C. Watson, O. A. Hall, Brode Johnson, G. T. Henderson, Frank Bennett, Bobby Atkinson, Grady Johnson Sr., C. H. Dobson, Charles Stewart, and Leon Woodward.
Mr. Kimball was the son of the late Rollin Green Kimball and Mrs Flora Mae Farthing Kimball.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Helen Horner Kimball; three sons, Jesse Green Kimball, Joseph Johnston Kimball Jr.,[sic: so was it Johnson or Johnston?] and Dan Doyle Kimball, all of Garfield; two daughters, Sarah Frances Kimball and Patricia Ann Kimball of Garfield; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Green [sic: was his father dead or alive?] Kimball of Twin City, Ga.; two brothers, Rollin Green Kimball Jr., of Metter, Ga., and Robert Miley Kimball of Twin City; one sister, Mrs. W. T. Watson of Twin City and a number of nieces and nephews.
