Hugh Sharon Barnhill was the son of Robert Sr. (1769 - 1821) and Sarah Marviss Barnhill (1776 - 1835). He was born in Butler Co., Ohio April 4, 1809. The family can be found in the 1820 Census of Flat Rock Parish, Delaware Co., Ind.

From "The Hurin-Huron Branch of the MaHurin Family" compiled by Francis H. Huron. Phebe Hurin, b: 20 Oct. 1807, Warren County, Ohio. d: 12 Aug 1839. m: 29 Sep 1828 in Hendricks Cty, Indiana to HUGH SHARON BARNHILL, b 28 Mar 1809. Children: Robert, Bathiah, Sarah Alice & Othniel Hurin.
Her Parents were: Othniel (born MaHurin)b: 10 Jan, 1759, Morris Cty, NJ, d: 4 Feb, 1813, Warren Cty, Ohio, m: Bertha St. John, b: 12 June 1774, d: 16 Jul 1831. Othniels parents were Seth Hurin (son of Ebenezer) & Mary Hazen.

Hugh married 2nd, Sarah Knapp (1813 - 1882) They were married Jun 11, 1840, in Marion, Indiana. They had 10 children: Ezra, Mary, Phebe, Catharine, Jane, Nancy, Hugh, Margaret, Martha, Aldia. The family can be found in the 1840 Census of Wayne Township, Marion County, IN. 1850 Census finds them in My Division, Marshall County, IN. Hugh is in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Census for Argos, Marshall County IN. His occupation was a farmer and in the 1880 census he is listed as a minister.
