SALTILLO - Larry Wayne Morse, 69, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. An Itawamba County native, he was born Aug. 4, 1941, to Johnnie and Blanche Bostick Morse. He graduated from Mantachie High School and worked as a tradesman in the tool and die industry before he became disabled. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Rex Yancey and Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in Keyes Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Kevin Morse (Phatema) and Brent Morse (Monica), all of Saltillo, and Sara Morse of Tupelo; his stepson, Carter Lowery of Byhalia; his grandchildren, Cole Morse, Anna Lauren Morse and Matthew Morse, all of Saltillo; three sisters, Marilyn Summerford of Smithville, Betty Hood (Wayne) of Baldwyn and Carolyn Wesson of Dallas, Texas; a brother, James Morse (Myrtle) of Olive Branch; his sons' mother, Linda Hall Morse of Shannon; special friends, Jessie M. Berry and Angie Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eloise Morse Shine; his brothers, Denford Morse and John Paul Morse; and the mother of his daughter, Patricia Goolsby Morse.
Pallbearers will be Rob Clayton, J.C. Coggin, Neil Dulaney, Eric Garner, Jeff Gladney, Jason Herring, Brian McDivitt and Scott Wood.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Saltillo First United Methodist Church Children's Building Fund, 737 Old Hwy. 45, Saltillo MS 38866 ; or The American Cancer Society, 1800 W. Main Street, Box 1, Tupelo MS 38801; or a charity of the donor's choice.
