We give thanks unto the Lord for giving us 75 years to love and cherish Madeline Ruth Hanks, nee Colletti, born Nov. 2, 1931, in New Orleans, La. She grew up in Harvey, La. until her marriage to Vearl Otis Hanks, Jr. on Nov. 6, 1954, in Gretna, La.
Ruth left us on Sept. 19, 2007, from St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill., to join her husband, Vearl; her parents, Louis and Wicy, nee Gilmore, Colletti; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Louis M. Colletti, Alon J. and Edna Colletti, into His Holy Kingdom.
Ruth leaves to celebrate her life, two children, Brenda (Jesse) Ogden of Mascoutah, Ill., and John A. Hanks of Freeport, Fla.; three grandchildren, Melinda (Dan) Dannenmueller of Harrisburg, Mo., Amber Schanz and Derek Schanz of Mascoutah, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Gloria Colletti of Harvey, La., a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marvin (Yoshiko) Hanks of Glenview, Ill.; dear friends, Bill and Donna Stidman; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruth retired from Scott AFB and was a member of NARFE, AARP, Monsanto Local 16 Retirees Club, Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid and a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Mascoutah, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Kirk M. Clayton, Pastor officiating. A Christian burial will be held in the Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, Ill.
