Vearl Hanks Jr.

Vearl O. Hanks Jr., 66, Mascoutah, Ill., born June 24, 1932, in St. Louis, Mo., died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Hanks was a retired instrument mechanic from Monsanto Queeny Plant. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mascoutah, Ill., American Legion Post 292, Mascoutah, Ill., Chemical Workers Union Local 16 and Monsanto Retirees. He was a Korean War Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vearl O. and Emilie K., nee Friess, Hanks Sr.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth, nee Colletti, Hanks, whom he married Nov. 6, 1954, in Gretna, La.; one son, John A Hanks of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Brenda S. (Jesse) Ogden of Mascoutah, Ill.; three grandchildren, Melinda (Dan) Dannenmueller of Bonaire, Ga., and Amber M. Schanz and Derek Schanz, both of Mascoutah, Ill.; a step-grandchild, Andy Ogden of DeSoto, Mo.; one brother Marvin (Yoshiko) Hanks of Glenview, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Edna Colletti of Pensacola. Fla., and Gloria Colletti of Marrero, La.; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, Ill., and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mascoutah, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mascoutah, Ill., with Pastor Mark Love officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, Ill.
