Funeral services for Mr. Thomas "Tommy" Burns, 61 of Marshall will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday March 06, 2011 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bob Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Marshall. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday March 05, 2011 at the funeral home. Mr. Burns passed away Friday March 04, 2011 in Longview.
Thomas "Tommy" Burns was born January 17, 1950 in Marshall to Marvin Vance Burns and Eve Marie McClaran Burns. On December 02, 1983, he married Mattie Sue Chancellor in Shady Grove, Texas. Mr. Burns was a member of Victory Baptist church and the East Texas Mule Riders. He was also an avid supporter of the Harrison County 4-H Rebel Riders Drill Team as well as an avid hunter.
Surviving Tommy are his wife of 27 years, Mattie Sue Burns of Marshall; mother, Marie Burns; sons, Cory Burns and wife Hailey, of Huntington, TX and Cody Burns and wife Kristi all of Marshall; grandson, Weston Burns and one sister, Becky George and husband Jack.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Burns.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Joiner, Rodney Hall, Terry Fyffe, Kenny Henigsmith, Andy Holloway, Rusty Evans, Roy Evans, and James Wyatt.
