OBITUARY: Mary Etta Baker Burson, 98, of Strong, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Oak Ridge Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 18, 1912, in Hickory Flat, Miss., to the Rev. Elijah Alvie Baker and Lucy Jane Wright Baker. Mary was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Strong. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ernest Clyde "Pete" Burson; four brothers, Guy, Charley, Alvie and Kermit Baker; four sisters, Kiley Goode, Etta Bradshaw, Lura Crump and Lucy Mae Hendrix; and grandchildren, Angela Lee, Karla Renee and Lewis Bryan Burson. Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Ballard and her husband, Robert, of Crossett; three sons, Elliott Burson and his wife, Ann, of Strong, Jerry Burson and his wife, Sarah, of Strong, and Mike Burson of Little Rock; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Strong with Scott Baker and Scotty Guillot officiating. Burial will be in Strong Cemetery under the directions of Young's Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Strong.
