A. Wayne Balsamo, 76, of Parker, died Monday afternoon, April 23, 2007, in Butler Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Born Aug. 24, 1930, in Parker, he was the son of the late Thomas and Evelyn A. Walker Balsamo.

Mr. Balsamo was a graduate of the former Parker High School. He served with the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 5, 1951, to Dec. 21, 1954, and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Balsamo began a lifelong career working in the glass manufacturing industry while a student in high school. He first worked for many years at Knox Glass Inc. in Parker and later worked for St. George Crystal of Jeannette, retiring there. He had been a member for 51 years of the Charles A. Black American Legion Post 598 of Parker. Mr. Balsamo was Catholic by faith.

He was married March 26, 1956, to Dana Anderson, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Valerie Balsamo-Gillespie of Butler, Renee Brown of Missouri and Danielle Balsamo of Manor; one
son: Thomas "Tom" Balsamo and companion, Donna Opsitnick, of Grapeville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Parker Presbyterian Cemetery.
