Teresa M. Monroe, 79, formerly of 1906 E. 22nd St., and more recently of Countryside Nursing Home, died Wednesday morning at Ball Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Monroe was born in Wallaceburg, Canada, and came to the United States in 1921, moving to the Marion and Muncie areas in 1931. She attended St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Marion and was a member of Warner Gear Sympathy Club Auxiliary, Muncie.
Surviving are a son, Charles W. Monroe, Muncie; a daughter, LaVina (Mrs. Charles) Foti, Moreno Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Monroe, in 1954. She was the last surviving member of a family of 17 children.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Marion. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, also in Marion. Calling will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in Needham & Story Funeral Services, Marion.
