NICKELSVIILE, Va. -- Lucian M. Dougherty, 77, died Sunday [July 6, 1986] afternoon at his residence after a brief illness.
He was a native of Scott County, a retired school teacher, a farmer, and a member of the Nicklesville United Methodist Church where he served as Church Treasurer for over 30 years.
Mr. Dougherty graduated from Emory & Henry College in 1932 and was serving as president of the Honor Court at the college. He was also Chief Deputy Treasurer of Scott County for eight years.
He was the son of the late Dr. J. M. Dougherty Sr. and Effa Mae Bevins Dougherty.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Anna Mae Arehart and Mrs. Madge Holt, both of Staunton, Va., Mrs. Bessie C. Money, Beckley, W.Va.; one brother, George Dougherty, Nicklesville, Va.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Scott County Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nicklesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter Mave and the Rev. Billy Rines officiating.
Burial will be in the Nicklesville Cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
