J.R. "Dick" Ford, 76, of Central City, died Sunday morning in his home after a long illness.
Services: 2 pm Tuesday, United Church of Christ, Central City. Burial: Mt Clark Cemetery, Central City with military rites by American Legion Wapsie Post 21.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Born the son of Charles and Cassie Thompson Ford on July 13, 1915, in Central City
married Persis Hutchins there June 29, 1940.
He served in the Navy in WW II.
Mr Ford was a carpenter for 32 years and later worked for Linn County Maintenance Department for 9 years retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Level Lodge 284 AF&AM, Chapter 183 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Wapsie Post 421 and United Church of Christ.
Dick was very active in various school activities and community organizations.
