George Hoke, d.s., a retired farmer of Cornwall township, died on Tuesday evening from a stroke of apoplexy. He was eighty years old and a widower for twenty-four years, making his home with his daughter, Mrs. John Hitz, at Hoke's Meeting House. Two sons and three daughters, Uriah and Jacob Hoke, of Bismarck; Mrs. Jacob Light, Five Points; Mrs. Daniel Kreider and Mrs. John Hitz, survive. Mr. Hoke was a member of the Brethren in Christ and widely known and highly respected. [Lebanon Semi Weekly News, September 19, 1907, Page 3]
