Barney J. Moehling, 93, of Hebron, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at his home.

He was born Aug. 30, 1915, in Palatine, to the late Herman and Amanda (Kruse) Moehling. He was married to Marion Bohnhorst on Aug. 28, 1943, in Arlington Heights, and she died Feb. 12, 1998.

He was a self-employed farmer from 1946 to 1972. He was head custodian for Alden-Hebron schools from 1972 until retiring in 2005.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Force. He was a tec5 aerial map reader, serving in the Asia/Pacific theater from September 1942 to January 1946.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hebron, where he served as past president of the church council for almost 10 years and was an usher for many years. He also delivered Meals on Wheels for years.

He is survived by two sons, Gordon Moehling of Greendale, Wis., and Larry (Jacqueline) Moehling of Woodstock.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lyle, in 1959; a sister, Helen Pingel; and a brother, Harold Moehling.

The visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, 9625 Main St., Hebron.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 9812 St. Albans St., Hebron. The Rev. Sarah Wilson will officiate.

Interment will be in Linn-Hebron Cemetery in Hebron with military honors.
