SWEAT - Jessie L. Sweat, 76, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 24, 2001. Born in Pierce County, Georgia, he served for two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps before moving to Jacksonville in the early 1940s. He then worked as a welder and steelworker through Carpenters Local Union No. 627 until his retirement. Survivors include his loving wife of over 56 years, Ann Sweat, his sister, Sally McCormick, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2001 in Evergreen Cemetery (Gate 1). Mr. Sweat will lie in repose from 6-8:00 PM tonight at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 N. Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
