He was born in Paragould on Sept. 2, 1920, to Richard Harris and Carolyn Wade Choate.
Survivors include one son, David and daughter-in-law Tracy Choate; two grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Choate, all of Charlotte N.C.; one brother, Bruce Choate of Jonesboro; 12 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annabelle Shivley Choate; two sisters, Sarah Thompson and Rebecca Anderton; and three brothers, Harris Choate, Wade Choate and Walter Choate.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.
A graveside service was held in Masonic Cemetery at Pocahontas. Morrow Funeral Home of La Center was in charge of arrangements.
