He married his first wife, Martha Dora Stephens 12 Oct 1889 and their daughter was Cleo Valley Carter. Dora died around 1900 then YJ married Mary Wright in 1901 and had other children.

Dora Stephens daughter of Caleb Stephens and Martha Payton Stephens married Young Jackson Carter in 1889 per Clarke County Marriage Certificate. His brother, Joseph married Georgia Payton. Georgia was daughter of John Thomas Payton. John Thomas was son of John Payton and Elizabeth Clementine Stephens Payton. This John was 1st cousins with Martha above and his wife Elizabeth Clementine was sister to the Caleb above.

In 1900 Census, Dora and Young Jackson with daughter Cleo can be found in Clarke County GA living near her parents. He is called Jack in this census. There appears to be Y beside his name, but some numbers written over the name make it difficult to be certain.

Then there is 1901 Fulton County Marriage Certificate for Mary Wright and Young J.

YJ, Mary, Cleo, George, John and Nora (Elizabeth) are living in Fulton County in 1910 Census
