Paul N. Rocket Man Ross, Jr., 52, of Rome, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday morning, February 18, 2011, after a 24 year battle with MS. He was born on May 28, 1958, in Rome, NY, a son of Paul N. and Eleanor M. (Grago) Ross, Sr. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On April 13, 2001, in Rome, he married Kelly Dealing, a blessed union of over 10 years that was filled with much love. Paul was a very successful car salesman for many years with local car dealerships here and in Florida. He was a member of the MS society and the MS resources of Central New York; he educated many local people about the debilitating diseases of MS. He was the recipient of the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award. As Paul's disease continued to wear his body down, he always had a smile and positive outlook on life; this was a great inspiration to his many family members and friends. Paul was an avid New York Yankees fan; he also loved motorcycles and Elton John Music. As a child he and his siblings loved to talk to each other on their CB radios. His handle was "Rocket Man" and he maintained that nickname throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Kelly, of Rome; his mother, Eleanor M. Ross, of Rome; and his siblings, Anthony Ross and his wife, Barbara, of Rome, Michelle Fisher and her husband, Laurence, of Rome, Stephen J. Ross, of Rome, Kelly Falcone and her husband, Iggy, of Rome, and Joelle Ross, also of Rome. He leaves his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Dealing, of Oriskany, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael Dealing, of Liverpool, NY, Kristine and Dean Garguilo, of Oriskany, and Amy and Forrest Kleaka, of Clinton. He also leaves his special friend, Joe DiMaggio; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and last but not least his two faithful and loving canine companions, Brandy Lynn and Daisy Mae. He was predeceased by his father, Paul N. Ross, Sr.; his father-in-law, Keith Dealing; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph N. and Josephine (Amici) Grago, maternal greatgrandparents Anthony and Francesca (Baesani) Amici. Interment in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
