George F. Hartman, 87, Reading, passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Reading Hospital.
George was born in Reading on March 20, 1923, a son of the late Harry K. and Bertha F. (Wiedenmyer) Hartman.
He was the widower of Winifred C. (Reifsnyder) Hartman, who died Sept. 23, 2010.
He worked as a plastics worker at Firestone for 34 years before retiring in 1981.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
George was a past Flotilla Commander in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and he was a life member of Haag Post VFW.
He was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Reading.
George is survived by a daughter, Carol A., wife of Michael Moyer, West Lawn.
Other survivors include three brothers: Albert Hartman, Reading; and William Hartman and Arthur Hartman, both of LaPonte, Calif.
He is also survived by one grandson, Timothy M. Moyer.
Services at Nativity Lutheran Church, 1501 N. 13th St., Reading, PA 19604 will be Thursday, March 3, at 1 p.m. Friends are invited to call at the church on Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
