Loved and missed by his family and friends. Conrad was born in New Hampshire and later in life married Majella L. Richard.
Conrad and Majella (known as Marge) had eight children together. Traveling with the Air Force until the early 70's when they finally settled in Mountain Home, Idaho.
Conrad died of a heart attack on December 16, 1975. He was survived by his parents, his wife, eight children and at that time, two grandchildren.
Over time, more grandchildren and great grandchildren would be born and/or marry into the family for a total of 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Since his death, both of his parents, one of his children, three grandchildren and my mother, have died.
Memories of my father include the endless amount of camping we would do. I loved going fishing with my father and I would dig worms, bait the hook, catch the fish, clean them and eat them after he cooked them. I always wanted to go hunting with him, though he would never let me go. I am glad now for the fact that I was not allowed to go because I know the memories of watching animals die, would haunt me forever, though I am not sure of why this does not apply to the fish.
Ice cream was always a special treat, we'd load up into the car and drive to the next town over and have the best ice cream there ever was. A day trip to the Sand Dunes was always fun, except he would trick us into carry our plastic sleds to the top of the dune and then he would ride them down the dune, I don't really mind so much NOW that he did that, but then, we sure hated it.
The year he died, he took my mother, my brother Doug, my sisters Margie and Cricket and myself, on a vacation. We had just seen the movie "Jaws" and one place my father took us, was the ocean, none of us got in the water. We were traveling in a pick up truck with a shell on the back where the four us siblings rode the whole way. We have a window to talk to our parents and a little intercom, mats in the back with blankets and pillows to keep us comfortable as well as windows that opened on the sides. I suppose NOW that would be unheard of, but we mostly enjoyed it. We visited family and friends all over the place and then came home.
My mother used to say that he knew he was going to die and he wanted one more trip with us, even if it couldn't be all eight of his children. I wonder if she was right?

The Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen
from the family tree
I keep hearing a voice that says,
"Grieve not for me"
Remember the best times,
the laughter, the song
The good life I lived
while I was strong
Continue my heritage,
I'm counting on you
Keep smiling and surely
the sun will shine through
My mind is at ease,
my soul at rest
Remembering all,
how I truly was blessed
Continue traditions,
no matter how small
Go on with your life,
don't worry about falls
I miss you dearly,
so keep up your chin
Until the days comes
we're together again

If Love Could Bring You Back
If love could bring you back
You'd be with me today
But as I sadly know
Love doesn't work that way
If love could bring you back
For one more day to me
What would we say and do
What wonders would we see
If love could bring you back
Though it really can't I know
I'd hold you in my arms and heart
And I'd never let you go
If love could bring you back
There is where you'd stay
You're where you should be now
I know it has to be that way

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!"
God called your name so softly
That only you could hear
And no one heard the footsteps
Of Angels drawing near
The Golden Gates stood open
God saw you needed rest
His garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best

Missing You
I woke today and wanted to call
And then began the tears
I realized that I won't see you again
At least not for many years
The emptiness it makes me feel
To know that you're not here
That I can't see you any more
For now not feel you near
As each day comes to an end
And I lay my head to sleep
I promise that your memory
Within my heart and soul I'll keep
Missing you is part of life
An ache I will carry within
For now it's what I have
Until the day I see you again
