JOHN W. DOBBS, RETIRED FARMER OF AVA, SUCCUMBS
John W. Dobbs, 88, retired farmer and resident of Ava for the past 10 years, and a former resident of Drury, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at the home of Reva Russell.
Mr. Dobbs was born May 22, 1881 at Dora, a son of Richard and Nancy Wheat Dobbs. His wife Lizzie Smith Dobbs, preceded him in death in 1923.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Dobbs of Squires, Chalmer Dobbs of Mt. Vernon and Charley Dobbs of Dayton, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Yeisley of Ava, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Clinkingbeard Chapel by Rev. Harold Gardner of Sparta. Burial was in Newhope Cemetery, under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
